Won't copy, won't print

HP Recommended
HP officejet pro 8715
  • When I press "copy document," printer gets stuck. It says "copying page 1/1" and spins its little wheel indefinitely. Does this when I load it through the tray feeder as well.
  • In addition, when I try to print from my chromebook, it says printing " blocked."
  • I followed hp's directions to disconnect cord from the printer, then printer from the power source. Wait 30 seconds. Try again. Try from another outlet in the house. Have tried the less conventional methods recommended, such as lifting one end of the computer several inches and letting it fall. Lifting the copy lid and letting it fall.  Nothing works yet. 😒

Hi @Jen93,

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions-

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If your printer is enrolled in instant ink, please send us a private message with your Instant Ink account details or you may also respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
