HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e All-in-One Printer

We had a 2 day power outage due to Milton. Our printer is connected to our wifi with password. Green light says successfully connected. My phone app says offline. We have unplugged printer, shut down over and over. Reset wifi and restarted computer. Our printer setting defaults the the message "use setup cartridge that came with your computer."  We used up original cartridges and sent them to YOU!!!!!! I have taken out all cartridges and put back. My app says it has plenty of ink.

We cannot get it to work after Milton power outage in Florida.

Hi @kenzlilwill

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating situation after the power outage. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue with your printer:

1. Check Printer Connection

  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi: Since the printer is showing it’s connected to Wi-Fi but your phone app says offline, you may want to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
    • Use the printer’s control panel to access Network settings, then choose the Wireless Setup Wizard to select your network and enter the password again.

2. Power Cycle Everything

  • Power Cycle Your Printer:
    • Unplug the printer from the wall, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart Your Router:
    • Unplug your router, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Ensure that your printer drivers on your computer are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

4. Reset Printer Settings

  • If you can access the printer's control panel, consider performing a factory reset. This option may be found in the printer’s settings menu under Tools or Maintenance.

5. Use the HP Smart App

  • If the app is showing that the printer is offline, try removing the printer from the app and then re-adding it:
    • Open the HP Smart app, go to Printers, select your printer, and choose the option to remove it. Then, add it back again.

6. Check for Error Messages

  • Look for any error messages on the printer display that might indicate what the problem is.

7. Install New Cartridges

  • Since you mentioned using setup cartridges, make sure you have standard cartridges installed. If you have replacements, try installing them to see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
