Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Inkjet 2852e and it will not print.  I have jobs in the que and there is an orange light on by the color icon and the 0 is rotating.  I have reinstalled the driver and also unplugged and plugged it a couple of times. I am sooo lost.

Hi @Bridget34, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I hear you—there’s nothing more frustrating than sending a print job and watching it sit there, refusing to come to life. That little orange light and spinning "0" can feel like a mystery, but don’t worry, you’re not alone in this! We’re in this together, and I’ll help you get your HP Inkjet 2852e back up and running in no time. Let’s tackle this step by step.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • The orange light near the color icon usually means an ink issue.
  • Open the printer lid and reinsert both ink cartridges securely.
  • If the cartridges are low or empty, replace them.
  • If the printer still doesn’t work, clean the cartridge contacts:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Remove the ink cartridges.
    • Use a dry lint-free cloth to gently wipe the copper contacts on the cartridges.
    • Reinsert the cartridges and restart the printer.

Check Paper Tray & Printhead

  • Remove any jammed paper from the tray.
  • Ensure the paper is properly loaded and aligned.
  • If you hear clicking noises, remove the paper, restart the printer, and reload it.

Clear Print Queue & Restart Printer

  • On your Windows PC:
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
  • On Mac:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
    • Click Cancel All Jobs, then restart your printer.

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the power cord while the printer is ON.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Run HP Print & Scan Doctor

  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run a diagnostic scan.

Take a deep breath, I know printer issues can be enough to make anyone want to throw the whole thing out the window, but you’ve got this! Give these steps a try and let me know how it goes. If that orange light is still giving you a hard time, I’m right here to help you figure it out.
