Hi @potter69

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A blinking yellow light on your HP ENVY 6400 series printer usually indicates an issue that requires attention. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the problem:

1. Check for Error Messages

  • Look at the printer's display (if applicable) for any specific error messages. Make a note of any codes or messages you see.

2. Paper Jam and Obstructions

  • Even if you don’t see any obvious obstructions, double-check the following:
    • Open the printer and check for any small pieces of paper or debris in the paper path and inside the printer.
    • Ensure the paper tray is properly seated and contains the correct size paper.

3. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and ensure the cartridges are properly installed:
    • Remove and reseat the cartridges to make sure they are securely in place.
    • Check for any protective tape or packaging that may have been missed when installing new cartridges.

4. Run a Printer Diagnostic

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool (available on the HP Support website) to diagnose and fix common issues.

5. Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

6. Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Since the Wi-Fi light is lit, check that your printer is connected to the correct network. If needed, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the control panel.

7. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or on the HP Support website.

8. Perform a Factory Reset

  • If the problem persists, consider performing a factory reset. Check the printer manual for instructions on how to do this, as it will vary by model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
