@CIndy0954, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The yellow light flashing along with an “E” flashing on the printer display typically indicates an error condition that needs attention. Here's how to troubleshoot it step-by-step:

Step 1: Identify the Error

  • The “E” stands for Error.
  • The flashing yellow light usually means:
    • Paper jam
    • Low or incorrect ink cartridge
    • Door open
    • Cartridge not installed properly

Step 2: Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power and turn it on.
  4. Check if the error clears.

Step 3: Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove and reinsert both cartridges (black and tri-color).
  3. Make sure they click into place.
  4. Close the door and check the lights.

Step 4: Check for Paper Jam or Misfeed

  1. Remove any paper from the input tray.
  2. Open the rear access door (if available) and check for jammed paper.
  3. Reload paper properly and ensure the tray guides are snug.

Step 5: Use HP Smart App for Diagnosis

Download the HP Smart app on your phone or PC. It can:

  • Show the exact error
  • Help you fix it with guided steps
