I have run HP's diagnostic test and everything checks out as good.  When I print only a few randomly selected words appear - not the full text.

Hi @jwbg1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing some issues with your printer's output. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

  • Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network connection.
  • Restart Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor glitches. Turn off your printer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Print Queue: Make sure there are no pending print jobs stuck in the print queue. If there are, try canceling them and then resend the print job.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Visit the HP website to check if there are any updated drivers available for your printer model. Download and install them if necessary. HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer Software and Driver
  • Print a Test Page: Print a test page from the printer itself (using its control panel) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the printer or the computer.
  • Try Different Software: If you're printing from a specific program (e.g., Microsoft Word), try printing from a different program to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if the problem is software-specific.
  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings (such as paper size, orientation, etc.) are correctly configured in both the printer settings and the print dialog box on your computer.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if the diagnostic tests passed, there could still be a paper jam or obstruction inside the printer. Open the printer cover and check for any stuck paper or debris.
  • Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your printer to its factory settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
