Hi @miamiukraine,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the power surge may have disrupted your HP printer's connection with your HP account, possibly causing some issues with its settings or firmware. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check HP Account Status:
- Ensure that your HP account is active and there are no issues with it. Visit the HP Smart website and log in to check your account status.
Restart Your Printer:
- Power off your printer completely by unplugging it from the wall.
- Wait for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Even though you’ve already reconnected to Wi-Fi, it’s worth confirming that the connection is stable.
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the wireless settings and ensure it’s connected to your network.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. This can often resolve issues caused by power surges. Check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.
Reconfigure Printer:
- Sometimes, removing and re-adding the printer can resolve connectivity issues. In the HP Smart app or on your computer, remove the printer and then add it back again.
Sign Out and Sign Back In:
- On the HP Smart app or the HP printer’s settings page, sign out of your HP account, and then sign back in. This can refresh the connection between your printer and HP account.
Check for Instant Ink Status:
- If you’re using HP Instant Ink, make sure your subscription is active and there are no issues with your account. Sometimes, problems with your Instant Ink account can cause errors. You can check your Instant Ink status by logging in to HP Instant Ink.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
