I purchased This printer still in the box a year ago for my 83rd birthday.  Obviously retired and on a fixed income.  Purchased enough ink at the time to last me a couple of years.  Now I have run out of ink, HP's ink is too expensive,  after purchasing 3rd party ink from Amazon I find my printer will; not accept it.  Tried a couple of different brands no luck. I've made sure that my printer always updated automatically.  I have a senior Citicen newsletter to get out hard copy for all those who don't have computers.  Is there anything I can do to fix  this?

Welcome to the HP Support community.

HP printers are designed to work with original HP ink and toner cartridges. As is standard in the printing business, HP printers use a process to authenticate cartridges. In certain HP printers, this authentication process includes measures referred to as dynamic security. It relies on the printer’s ability to communicate with the security chips or electronic circuitry on the cartridges. HP uses dynamic security to protect the quality of our customer experience, maintain the integrity of our printing systems, and protect our intellectual property.
