Hi @Mackys50,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the printer may not be detecting the correct paper size or the settings may need adjustment. Here are some things to check.
Check Paper Size: Ensure the paper loaded in the tray is A4 size. Sometimes, if the printer detects a mismatch between the loaded paper size and the settings, it will throw an error.
Select Duplex (Double-Sided) Copy Mode:
- From the printer's control panel, tap the Copy option.
- Select the Duplex or 2-sided Copy option. Depending on your printer model, this option might be under "More Options" or similar settings.
- Ensure you're selecting the correct type of double-sided copying (e.g., flipping on the long edge or short edge).
Paper Tray Configuration: Ensure that the paper guides in the tray are set correctly to A4 size. Misalignment can sometimes cause the printer to misread the paper size.
Printer Settings via HP Smart or Printer Software: If you're printing from a computer:
- Open the HP Smart app or your printer settings on the PC.
- Choose the option for duplex printing, making sure the paper size matches A4.
- Ensure the paper type is set correctly (e.g., plain paper).
Firmware Update: If none of the above works, make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date, as an outdated version can sometimes cause issues with certain features.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
