Hi @Jimmy7988

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 4158e is displaying a flashing amber light along with an error code, it typically indicates a specific issue that needs to be addressed. Here are some common troubleshooting steps you can take:

1. Identify the Error Code

  • Check the printer's display panel for any specific error codes. Refer to the printer's user manual or HP's support website for information on what the specific error code means.

2. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any jammed paper carefully.

3. Inspect the Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly and that any protective tape has been removed.
  • If the cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new, genuine HP cartridges.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

5. Check Connections

  • Ensure that all cables are securely connected. If you’re using a USB connection, try a different port or cable.

6. Clean the Printer

  • Dust or debris can sometimes cause issues. Use a soft cloth to clean around the ink cartridges and paper path

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
