Hi @dial60,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When the cartridge icon on your HP printer blinks after replacing the magenta cartridge, it typically indicates an issue with the cartridge itself or its installation. Here’s what you can do to resolve this.
- Verify Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the magenta cartridge is correctly installed. Open the printer’s cartridge access door, remove the cartridge, and then reinsert it firmly into its slot until it clicks into place.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Confirm that the replacement cartridge is compatible with your specific printer model. Using an incompatible cartridge can lead to issues like blinking cartridge icons.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or debris on the cartridge contacts can prevent proper communication with the printer. Gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes reset the printer’s internal memory and resolve minor issues.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. HP often releases updates that address cartridge recognition and other issues.
- Replace with a New Cartridge: If the issue persists after checking all the above steps, try using a new, genuine HP magenta cartridge. Sometimes, cartridges can be faulty even if they are new.
If these steps don’t resolve the blinking cartridge icon issue, it’s possible there may be a more significant hardware issue with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
