HP DeskJet 2823e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought and picked up a brand new deksjet 2800 series printer today, brought it home, ran the setup, downloading the hp smart software and so on.

The printer stops halfway through the first page of a print job and disconnects from wifi, the only solution I have found by trial-and-error is to restart both printer and printjob, I managed to get a full 2 pages done by printing directly through the hp smart software but again, the printer disconnects from wifi and onlay solution so far is restarting. needless to say I am disappointed now being stuck with a printer that is more or less useless, but Im hoping it may be a driver or firmware update that will repair this as the wife is nagging me already and I bought the printer to get her to actually stop nagging me. I cant for the life of me though, find a driver or firmware update for the product

another issue Im having is that when I check the warranty status online via hp support it states that the warranty started may of this year, leaving me with 7 months and some days warranty, which is odd to me seeing that I bought this thing brand new today so it shouldnt be counting down before today, besides that it states I "had" 1 year warranty before the countdown started, but according to danish consumer regulations all products bought in denmark must provide a full 2 year warranty, even Apple had to comply with this, this issue was tried in consumer court years back.

Hi @Phjgaard,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing two main issues with your new HP DeskJet 2823e All-in-One Printer: disconnection from Wi-Fi during print jobs and confusion regarding the warranty start date.

Wi-Fi Disconnection Issue

The Wi-Fi disconnection issue during print jobs is frustrating, but there are several things you can try to resolve it.

  • Update the Printer Firmware: Sometimes, a firmware update can fix connectivity issues. You can check for firmware updates by going to HP Smart, then navigating to Settings and checking for firmware updates, or you can visit the HP support page for your printer model to see if any updates are available.
  • Wi-Fi Network Stability: Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is stable. Weak Wi-Fi signals or interference can cause disconnections. If you're printing from a mobile device or PC, try moving closer to the router to see if the issue persists.
  • Router Settings: Some routers have settings (such as "smart connect" or "band steering") that could be affecting the printer's ability to stay connected. Try disabling these features or manually assigning the printer to either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz network band, depending on which one your printer is designed to use.
  • Reinstall the Printer: Try completely removing the printer from your network (through HP Smart or the printer settings), and then reinstall it from scratch. You can use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) or Wi-Fi Direct method during the setup for a more stable connection.
  • Reset the Printer Network Settings: You can reset the printer's network settings to factory defaults, which may help resolve any issues. This can be done by going to Setup > Network > Restore Network Settings from the printer's control panel.

Please check this document and follow the steps to raise the warranty dispute.

Also please refer to the below link to check the warranty status.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
