can not get brand new printer set up due to prom=blem with ink cartidges

HP Recommended

I have just purchased a HP OfficJet Pro 9012 printer. I can not get this set up due to message regarding "check for leaky cartridges". I have followed all the steps on the troubleshooting page up until it tells me to replace the printhead? This is brand new! Has anyone got any ideas?

@kellie68 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting ink cartridges error.

Please perform the hard reset and check.

Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

I have performed these steps five times already. I have the same page opened in my browser. It's telling me I need a new printer head? I just picked this up on Wednesday from the post office. 😞

It  Also, is it supposed to be so noisy, it makes a sound like a vacuum seal closing?
