Hi @pillgrimm,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer is showing an error message stating "printer cannot print due to problem with current printer setup,"

here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Restart Your Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network.
  • If using a USB connection, check that the USB cable is securely plugged into both the printer and your computer.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer itself indicating issues such as paper jams, low ink, or other hardware problems.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Sometimes restarting your computer can resolve communication issues between your computer and printer.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer on your computer.
  • Check the printer queue to see if there are any pending print jobs that may be causing issues.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows): HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can automatically diagnose and resolve printing problems. Download and run this tool to see if it identifies any issues with your printer setup.

Reset the Printer:

  • Resetting the printer to its factory defaults can sometimes resolve persistent issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

Check for Firmware Updates:  Update the firmware on an HP printer User manual

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve printer performance.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • If all else fails, try uninstalling the printer from your computer and then reinstalling it using the latest drivers from HP's website.

I hope this helps.
