Hi @Kelmarieg27,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 8610 printer screen is stuck in a semi-reset mode and you can’t get it back to the home screen, follow these steps to try and resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the Power button to turn off the printer. If the printer doesn’t respond, unplug it from the power source.

Unplug the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

Wait:

  • Leave the printer unplugged for about 60 seconds. This allows any residual power to dissipate and can help reset internal components.

Reconnect Power:

  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and then into the wall outlet.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Press the Power button to turn the printer back on and see if it returns to the home screen.

2. Check for Error Messages

Examine the Display:

  • Look for any specific error messages or codes on the screen. These can provide clues about what might be causing the issue.

Consult the Manual:

  • Refer to the printer’s manual for guidance on any error codes or messages you see.

3. Perform a Partial Reset

Access the Printer’s Menu:

  • If you can interact with the menu on the screen, try navigating to Setup or Settings.

Find the Reset Option:

  • Look for a Restore Defaults or Factory Reset option. This may be under Tools, Maintenance, or a similar menu.

Confirm the Reset:

  • Follow the prompts to perform a partial reset or restore factory settings. This might help resolve issues with the printer's display.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • If possible, connect your printer to a computer and visit the HP website to check for the latest firmware updates for your model.
  • Download and install any available updates, following the instructions provided.

5. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Open all paper trays and access panels to check for any paper jams or obstructions that might be affecting the printer’s operation.
  • Carefully remove any jammed paper or debris you find.

6. Check Printer Connections

  • Ensure that all cables (power, USB, Ethernet) are securely connected to the printer and the computer or networ
  • If using USB, try a different port on your computer or a different cable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
