officejet 8600 pro cant get past printer failure message

I had this problem with my 8600 about 3 weeks ago. It happened immediately after replacing two ink cartridges. The problem may have occurred because  I continued to use it and let the ink run out completely. I've done this before and never had a problem. I'm won't be doing that again. I didn't know if I ever get it working again. After taking the printer to a computer shop the tech put in a new aftermarket print head, but it did not help. After more than a week I took the printer home and I purchased an HP genuine printer head, which came with four starter cartridges. Within in 10 minutes it was working like new again. The part number is HP CR322A Print Head Replacement Kit. You can get it from Amazon for $139.99. If you do this make sure you use the included cartridges that came with the head.
