Hi @natasha0181,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you continue to experience a cartridge jam error on your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835 after replacing the ink, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Ensure the Carriage Moves Freely:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Open the exterior and cartridge access doors.
  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord. This will allow the carriage to be moved manually.
  • Use a flashlight to inspect the cartridge pathway for any obstructions or torn paper pieces.
  • Manually move the carriage left and right to ensure it moves freely without obstruction.
  • Close the cartridge access and exterior doors.
  • Reconnect the power cord, and turn the printer back on.

Check for Proper Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reinstall them carefully following the printer's guidelines.
  • Make sure that protective tapes on the cartridges have been removed before installation.

Clear Any Additional Obstructions:

  • Inspect underneath the printer, as well as the paper input and output trays for any foreign objects or paper pieces.

Reset the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer. If it does not turn off, unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
