HP OFFICEJET 3860

Just purchased 3860.  Out of the box today.  I am connected to wifi.  Installed ink. Now I have the "carriage jammed" error, and install ink cartridges message. On the app it says when I checked the supply status both of the cartridges are what looks like empty.  Also said cartridge missing.  The cartridge is stalled on the right side and I am not able to move it at all. I have tried all of the trouble shooting suggestions. Unplug, plug  into the wall, that sort of thing.  It can't be jammed because I haven't even put paper in it yet.

Could this thing be out of ink and that's why it's stalled and missing?  I have seen horror stories about having to purchase ink subscription.  Please don't tell me that I have to sign up for this because when I purchased it from Amazon it said the subscription was optional.  Is HP holding my printer "hostage"?????

Anyone...anyone?????.😒

Hi @TRIVIAHO

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you

Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.

Instant ink service is optional, please try below suggestions-

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try the steps in the document - 'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays and Cartridge error

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

I have tried all of the suggestions.  The carriage still won't move.  It is stalled on the right side.  I can't get it out.  If I have inserted the cartridges incorrectly,  I don't know if I have done that. How do I get them out?

I need to use this printer soon.  Can you  please help?

Thank you,

@TRIVIAHO, that's unfortunate.
