Hi @Kal1935, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The 0XC19A0013 error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 typically indicates a printhead issue. This could be caused by ink system failures, a clogged printhead, or electrical problems. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help fix the issue:

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. While it's on, unplug the power cable from the back of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait for 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first.
  6. Plug the power cable back into the printer.
  7. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Check and Reseat Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  2. Remove each ink cartridge and inspect for any ink leakage or damage.
  3. Wipe the electrical contacts (gold-colored chips) on the cartridges using a lint-free cloth.
  4. Reinsert the cartridges securely and close the access door.
  5. Restart the printer.

Clean the Printhead

If the issue persists, try cleaning the printhead:

  1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  2. Run the printhead cleaning process.
  3. Print a test page and check for improvement.

Remove and Manually Clean the Printhead

If the printhead is removable, you can clean it manually:

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
  2. Lift the printhead latch and gently remove the printhead.
  3. Use a damp, lint-free cloth to clean the gold contacts on the printhead.
  4. Place the printhead in a bowl with warm distilled water (not tap water) and let it soak for 10 minutes.
  5. Dry the printhead with a clean, lint-free cloth and let it air dry for 15 minutes.
  6. Reinstall the printhead, lock it in place, and insert the cartridges.
  7. Restart the printer and check if the error is resolved.

Update the Printer Firmware

Sometimes, a firmware update can fix printhead-related errors.

  1. Go to HP Support and download the latest firmware for your printer.
  2. Install it and restart the printer.

Replace the Printhead

If the problem persists, the printhead may be damaged and need replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
