Hi @eettafel,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "No toner/ink" message suggests that your HP Envy 450 printer might not be detecting ink cartridges, or there could be a cartridge recognition issue.

Here are some steps to try.

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure you're using compatible ink cartridges for the HP Envy 450. This model typically uses HP 61 or HP 301 cartridges, depending on the region.

Remove and Reseat Cartridges:

  • Open the printer cover to access the cartridges.
  • Remove each cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape that might still be on the nozzles; remove any if present.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their slots until they click into place.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let everything dry before reinserting the cartridges and turning on the printer.

Check Ink Levels: Use the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel to verify if it shows the ink levels correctly. If it doesn’t, there may be a communication issue between the printer and cartridges.

Firmware Update: Check for any available firmware updates for your printer model. Updated firmware can sometimes fix recognition issues with cartridges.

Reset the Printer: Unplug the printer while it’s on, wait for a minute, then plug it back in. This can sometimes reset the printer's connection to the cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
