I doubted that it was a hardware issue as everything worked perfectly up until recently except that we have never been able to receive a fax with this machine and have never been able to get the HP web services app to properly configure despite having all correct passwords and google settings according to google references.
Anyway, for the moment, the subject problem has gone away. I did a total reset to factory defaults. Then I deleted every bit of HP software from the computer, redownloaded and reinstalled. It has been several hours now since the blue light and the error have reappeared, so maybe all is good.
