Hi @Mcdoolde,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with an error like that on your HP Photosmart 6520, especially when you're trying to print or scan. Let’s see if we can resolve it for you.

  • Have you experienced this error consistently, or does it happen intermittently? Does it occur when trying to print, scan, or during startup?
  • Does the printer have a steady connection to your network or computer, and are all the cables properly connected?
  • Have you recently updated the printer's firmware or software, or made any changes to your computer’s operating system?

Let's try these steps.

Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug the power cable from both the printer and the wall outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and power the printer back on. This helps reset the printer and may clear temporary glitches.

Check Printer Connections: Ensure that the printer is connected properly, whether via USB or Wi-Fi. If using Wi-Fi, try reconnecting it to the network to ensure a stable connection. If it’s connected via USB, try using a different USB port on your computer.

Update Printer Drivers: An outdated driver may cause compatibility issues and errors like this one. Visit HP’s official support page for the Photosmart 6520 and download the latest drivers and software package. Reinstalling the drivers may fix any issues that are triggering the error.

Reset the Printer to Default Settings: You can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults. This will clear any incorrect settings that might be causing the error.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve printer errors. If your printer is connected to the internet, check for any available updates through the HP Printer Assistant or the HP Smart app. If no updates are available, check for firmware updates directly from the HP website.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, the error may indicate a more specific hardware issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
