Hi @sally190,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for sharing the error code so clearly. I know how confusing it can be when your HP printer suddenly shows: Error Code: oxo11A17FF DOT11_PRIVATE. Let’s walk through this together to get your printer back online.

Recommended Fixes for Error oxo11A17FF DOT11_PRIVATE

1. Perform a Hard Power Reset

This clears temporary memory and resets the wireless module.

Steps:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Wait until it’s idle and silent.
  3. Remove the ink cartridges.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  5. Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  6. Wait 60 seconds.
  7. Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  8. Reconnect the cord to the printer and power it on.

2. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause wireless authentication errors.

  • Visit HP’s official site:
    👉 Official HP® Support
  • Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware.
  • Install via USB or HP App.

3. Forget and Reconnect Wi-Fi

If the printer is stuck in a bad wireless state:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard
  • Re-add the printer on your computer or mobile device

4. Reinstall Printer Drivers

Corrupted drivers can trigger this error.

  • Remove the printer from your computer’s Printers & Scanners list.
  • Download the latest driver from HP’s site.
  • Reinstall and reconnect the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
