Hi @Louiop

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your printer is showing error 0x800400003—it’s incredibly frustrating when everything looks ready but nothing prints. This error typically points to a printer configuration or driver conflict, and I’ll guide you through a clean recovery path to help restore printing.

Step-by-step actions to resolve printer error 0x800400003 on Windows 11

1. Remove and reinstall the printer

  1. Press Win + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
  3. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall any HP printer software listed.
  4. Restart your computer.

2. Reset the print spooler

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
  3. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in that folder.
  4. Return to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

3. Reinstall using the HP App

4. Install the full feature driver

  • Visit:
    HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your printer model and download the Full Feature Software and Drivers for Windows 11.
  • Install and restart your computer.

5. Run the Diagnose & Fix tool

Let me know how the printer responds after these steps. If the error persists, we can explore alternate driver modes or port configurations next. You’ve done everything right by staying persistent—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.
