HP OfficeJet Pro 8710

I replaced the ink cartridge and the printer sent the error msg above.  It is the same cartridge I have always used.

Hi @Yvonne91,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the cartridge recognition or compatibility. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the replacement cartridge you've installed is compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer. Sometimes, even if it's the same model, there could be variations in cartridges that affect compatibility.
  • Reinstall Cartridge: Remove the cartridge from the printer and then reinstall it properly. Make sure it's securely in place and properly seated.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or debris on the cartridge contacts can interfere with the connection. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the contacts on the cartridge.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve cartridge recognition issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

This information did not solve the printer problem, the cartridge is still showing as older generation cartridge. the cartridges are HP made and have a date of 2020 on them.
