Hi @Emkjer,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Encountering an error message like "There is a problem with your printer or ink system" on an HP printer can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Replace any empty or low cartridges.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: If the cartridges are installed correctly but the error persists, remove them and gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth. Reinstall the cartridges and see if the error clears.
  • Reset the Printer: Many HP printers have a reset option in the settings menu. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause errors. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model and install them.
  • Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a free diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can automatically diagnose and fix printing and scanning problems. Download and run this tool to see if it identifies the issue and provides a solution.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the problem, there may be a hardware issue with the printer or ink system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
