As many I also have error code oxb8284398 and have tried to reset to factory default with no luck.  Looks like there maybe a specific procedure to be disclosed.  Wondering if anyone can help.  Thank you.

Hi @Premier3,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error code 0xb8284398 on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 printer typically indicates a firmware issue or a problem with the printer's configuration.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the error:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

If the power cycle doesn’t resolve the issue, try resetting the printer to factory defaults again, following these steps:

Access the Setup Menu:

  • On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon (gear icon).

Navigate to Tools:

  • Scroll down and select Tools.

Restore Factory Defaults:

  • Look for an option that says Restore Factory Defaults or Reset All Settings.
  • Confirm your selection.

3. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date:

Via HP Smart App:  HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Select your printer, then go to Printer Settings.
  • Look for an option to update the firmware.

Via Printer's Web Interface:

  • Find the printer’s IP address from the printer's control panel (usually in the network settings).
  • Enter the IP address in a web browser to access the printer’s web interface.
  • Look for firmware updates in the settings menu.

4. Check for Hardware Issues

If the above steps do not work, check for any hardware issues:

  • Check for Jams: Ensure there are no paper jams or foreign objects inside the printer.
  • Inspect Cartridges: Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • Look for Error Messages: If the printer displays other error messages, address those first.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
