@Terry8611, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error you're seeing on your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe Printer — Error Code E11, along with:
- Red "X" (solid)
- Wi-Fi light flashing orange
- Orange box with three dots (paper tray icon) flashing
typically indicates a paper feed or paper tray problem combined with a Wi-Fi/network connectivity issue.
🔧 Step-by-Step Fix:
✅ 1. Resolve the E11 Error (Paper Feed Issue)
E11 generally refers to a paper jam, empty tray, or incorrectly loaded paper.
- Check the Input Tray: Make sure there is paper properly loaded in the tray. Align the paper guides snugly.
- Check for Jams: Open the input tray, output bin, and toner access area. Remove any jammed or stuck paper.
- Check Rear Access (if applicable): Ensure there’s no paper stuck at the back.
- Restart the Printer after checking all areas.
📶 2. Fix Wi-Fi Light Flashing Orange (Connection Problem)
This means the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi or the connection is unstable.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the light starts blinking, then use the HP Smart App or WPS method to reconnect:
To connect using HP Smart:
- Open the HP Smart App.
- Go to “Set up a new printer.”
- Follow the on-screen steps to connect it to Wi-Fi.
To connect using WPS (if your router supports it):
- Press the WPS button on your router.
- Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi light blinks quickly.
- Wait for the connection to complete.
💡 3. Interpret the Orange Box with 3 Dots
This usually indicates a paper tray or media detection issue — often tied to paper size/type mismatches or an empty tray.
- Make sure the correct paper size/type is selected in the printer settings (from the printer’s embedded web server or HP Smart).
- Double-check the paper is loaded properly and the tray guides are adjusted to fit snugly.
- Ensure only supported paper types are used.
Power Cycle
After doing the above:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cable for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
