HI @MauraB45,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer's paper jam!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your printer is experiencing a paper feed issue where the paper is not properly aligning and getting stuck underneath the tray. Here’s how you can fix it:

Check for Any Hidden Paper Jams

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Remove the paper tray and check underneath for any jammed paper.
  3. Open the back door (if applicable) and remove any stuck paper carefully.
  4. Use a flashlight to look inside the printer for small torn pieces of paper that might be causing the jam.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Dusty or worn-out rollers can cause paper jams.

  1. Locate the rollers (usually found in the back or inside the paper tray area).
  2. Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water and gently wipe the rollers.
  3. Let them dry for a few minutes before reinserting the tray and turning the printer back on.

Check Paper Type & Load Correctly

  1. Use fresh, good-quality paper.
  2. Fan the stack before placing it in the tray to prevent sheets from sticking together.
  3. Make sure the paper guides are snug against the paper but not too tight.

Reset the Printer

  1. Unplug the printer for 60 seconds.
  2. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  3. Try printing again.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Go to HP's support website and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install any available firmware updates.

Let me know how it goes. 😊
