Hi @Michelle288

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xb857ca4e on your HP printer typically indicates a connectivity or hardware issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

2. Check Connections

  • Ensure all cables (USB and power) are securely connected. If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure your printer is connected to the network.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  • If your printer is accessible, check for any available firmware updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website or use the HP Smart app to look for updates.

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can help diagnose and fix printing issues.

5. Reset the Printer

  • You can also try a factory reset if you’re able to access the printer settings. Check your printer’s manual for instructions specific to your model.

6. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or foreign objects that may be obstructing the print path.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
