Hi @gertrude78,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand that your HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer is showing a persistent print error after printing payroll items, despite your efforts to clear the print queue and restart the printer. We appreciate the steps you’ve already taken and are here to help you resolve the issue.
Please follow the steps below in order:
Step 1: Fully Power Cycle the Printer and Computer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
- On your computer, shut down completely (not just restart).
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug in and turn on the printer.
- Start your computer again.
Step 2: Manually Clear the Print Spooler
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- In the list, find Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Stop.
- Open File Explorer and go to:
C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
(You may be prompted to allow access — click "Continue".) - Delete all files in that folder.
- Go back to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.
Step 3: Reinstall the Printer Driver
Sometimes errors persist due to a corrupted driver. Here’s how to reinstall:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP LaserJet Pro P1102w, then click Remove device.
- Visit the official HP support page:
🔗 HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support - Download and install the HP Smart Install or HP Full Feature Software and Driver.
- Reconnect your printer via USB or Wi-Fi, depending on your setup.
Step 4: Test with a Simple Document
Once reinstalled, open Notepad, type a short line, and print it. This helps isolate whether the issue is with the print system or a specific application.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
