Hi @carol283,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
A flashing printhead error on an HP printer usually means the printer cannot detect the printhead correctly, or there’s an issue with ink flow or electrical contacts. Here’s how to fix it:
1. Power Reset
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn the printer on.
2. Remove and Reseat the Printhead
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove all ink cartridges.
- Lift the latch and carefully remove the printhead.
- Inspect for:
- Ink buildup
- Damaged contacts
- Clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinsert the printhead and lock the latch.
- Reinstall cartridges.
3. Update Firmware
- Go to HP’s official page for your printer model: 👉 Official HP® Support
4. Run Printhead Cleaning
- From the printer menu or HP Smart app:
- Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
