Hi @Joy070,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2545 printer is displaying the message “Error in Reading Command.” Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and how to fix it.

a. Power Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the wall outlet and the printer.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug it back directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extensions).

Turn the printer back on and check if the message still appears.

b. Check for Stuck Print Jobs

On your computer, open the Control Panel → Devices and Printers.

Right-click your HP DeskJet 2545 → select See what’s printing.

Click Printer → Cancel All Documents.

Restart the computer and printer, then try printing again.

c. Verify USB or Wireless Connection

If you’re using USB, unplug the cable and plug it into another USB port directly on your computer.

If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure the blue wireless light on the printer is solid (not blinking).

Reconnect the printer in HP Smart if the connection has been lost.

d. Reinstall the Printer Drivers

Open Control Panel → Programs and Features.

Uninstall all HP printer-related software.

Restart your computer.

Download and reinstall the Full Feature Software and Driver for DeskJet 2545 from support.hp.com.

Follow the setup steps again.

e. Check for Corrupt Commands or Unsupported File Formats

The “Error in Reading Command” can sometimes appear if the printer receives corrupt data or unsupported print commands (e.g., from outdated software or non-HP drivers).

Try printing a Test Page directly from the printer:

Press and hold the Power button, then press the Cancel (X) button once.

Release both buttons — a test page should print.

If the error reappears, move to the next step.

I hope this helps.
