I installed a new ink cartidge in new HP 9730E printer and the screen in frozen on "validating - please wait".  I have unplugged and removed the power cord for 20 minutes and that did not fix the problem.  When I reconnected to power the screen is still stuck on "validating".  How can I reset the printer?

Hi @drb2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer screen is frozen on "validating - please wait" even after a power cycle, you can try the following steps to reset it.

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Make sure the new ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reinstall them, ensuring they are firmly seated in their respective slots.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer back on.

Reset Printer to Factory Settings:

  • If the hard reset doesn’t work, try performing a factory reset. Unfortunately, this model doesn’t have a dedicated factory reset option in the menu.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Sometimes, firmware issues can cause problems. If you can access the printer’s settings, check for any available firmware updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
