This video shows how to print directly from your Apple smartphone or iPad to the printer there's no need to go through the router

 

Setup video for WiFi Direct. This is for when you do not have access to the modem or you do not want to give someone access to your modem but you want to let them print something..

Make sure the printer is in WiFi direct mode. This printer can use both the 2.4 and the 5ghz bands.  There will be a different name (SSID) for each band in the WiFi direct setup
