Hi @Todd181,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The blue screen with code 00829c98 on your HP Envy Photo 7855 usually indicates a firmware crash or serious internal error. This often happens during startup or when the printer encounters a corrupted state.
Here’s what you can do:
Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds (let the printer fully discharge).
- Plug the cord back in and power on the printer.
Step 2: Check for Firmware Update
- If the printer starts, immediately update the firmware via HP App or HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer | HP® Support.
- Firmware updates often resolve blue screen errors caused by corrupted software.
Step 3: Disconnect Network & USB
- Remove any USB cables and disconnect Wi-Fi temporarily.
- Restart the printer without any external connections. Sometimes, the error is triggered by communication issues.
Step 4: Factory Reset (if accessible)
- If the touchscreen responds after a restart, go to: Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults.
- If the screen remains frozen, skip to Step 5.
Step 5: If Still Stuck
- The error usually means the printer needs service or replacement.
- Contact HP Support for advanced troubleshooting or repair options: 👉 HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer - Troubleshooting | HP® Support.
Tip: If you hear the printer fan running but the screen stays blue, it’s a strong sign of firmware corruption that cannot self-recover.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
