Hi @Piper27,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP LaserJet M209dwe has a solid orange light on the front and is having trouble printing anything other than test pages, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer’s control panel for any error messages or additional lights that might indicate a problem.

Restart the Printer:

  • Power off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Sometimes a restart can clear minor issues.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer is not in an error state. If there are any issues with the paper tray, toner, or other components, the printer might not process print jobs.

Verify Network Connection:

  • Even though the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, ensure that it is properly connected to your network and that the network is stable.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can usually find updates on HP’s website or through the HP Smart app.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers on your computer. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues.

Check Print Queue:

  • On your computer, check the print queue to see if there are any stuck print jobs. If there are, clear them and try printing again.

Use HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and run a diagnostic test to see if it can identify and fix the issue.

Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer settings are configured correctly. Check the paper size, type, and tray settings to make sure they match your print job.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
