Hi @Canton3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Delete & Reinstall the Printer

Sometimes just resetting the printer settings works.

Go to: System Preferences > Printers & Scanners

Right-click (or Control + Click) on the HP printer

Choose “Reset printing system” (⚠️ this deletes all printers)

After reset, click the + to Add Printer

Let macOS auto-detect the HP LaserJet Pro M225dw

If it says “AirPrint” or “Secure AirPrint,” select that unless you want full HP drivers

Install the HP Driver (Not AirPrint)

Download the HP Easy Start for macOS.

Run the installer and choose “HP driver” (not AirPrint) if prompted.

Restart your Mac after installation.

Add the printer again using the new HP drivers.

Check for Ghost Filters

If you're on Linux or using CUPS on macOS:

Go to http://localhost:631 (the CUPS web interface)

Click on “Printers”

Find your HP M225dw

Check the driver listed under “Make and Model”

If it says Generic, it’s not using HP drivers. Click Modify Printer and choose HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225 PPD from the list.

Clear Print Queue

Cancel all print jobs

Restart the printer and computer

Try printing a Test Page from system preferences

I hope this helps.
