I have a HP officejet pro 7740 and every now and then a B8EC7C44 error code appears. It happens when I don't print for a handful of days. I turn it off then on and it goes away. Is this a serious error code?

Hi,

Personally, I wouldn't suspect such a sporadic error to cause such an error, but likely from a network or any device-specific connectivity problem.

Please try disabling IPv6 for the printer and follow to see if there might be any difference.

From within HP Smart on your computer, double-click the printer and select Advanced Settings.

Open the Network tab and then select Network Protocols.

Select Enable IPv4 only and then click Apply and confirm.

Now restart the printer and follow for any difference for some days and check if you may see any difference.

If the same persists, I would also suggest temporarily disabling any network connection for some days (either wired or wireless) and directly connect the printer to a single PC and follow it for some days, to better isolate any possible cause for troubleshooting purposes.

Please let me know how it goes.

Shlomi
