Hi @ADobb87,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Photo Tray Blocked" error on your HP ENVY 5745 printer can happen if the photo tray is not properly aligned or if there are obstructions preventing it from moving. Since you have already cleaned the rollers with alcohol, here are some additional troubleshooting steps to try.

Check for obstructions:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Remove any paper or other objects that might be stuck inside the printer.
  • Check the photo tray area for any debris or paper pieces that could be blocking the movement.

Re-seat the photo tray:

  • Gently remove the photo tray and then reinstall it, ensuring it is properly seated in the tray slot. Sometimes misalignment can trigger the error.
  • Ensure the tray is not overfilled and the photo paper is positioned correctly.

Clean and inspect the paper path:

  • Use a flashlight to inspect the area for any paper jams or pieces that might have been missed.
  • Gently wipe the paper path with a clean, lint-free cloth to ensure there’s no dust or residue causing the blockage.

Check photo tray sensor:

  • The printer may have a small sensor that detects the tray. If this sensor is dirty or malfunctioning, it may report a blockage. Inspect the area around the tray for any loose parts or small sensors.

Reset the printer:

  • Unplug the printer while it’s on, wait for 60 seconds, and plug it back in. Let the printer go through its initialization process and check if the error persists.

Update printer firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer. Sometimes firmware issues can cause miscommunication between the printer and the hardware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
