Hi @rebmc,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 5012 is clicking but not feeding paper, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Open the paper tray and look inside the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. Even small bits of paper can cause feeding issues.
  • Inspect the Paper Path: Ensure there are no foreign objects or pieces of paper in the paper path. Gently remove any visible debris.
  • Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the paper tray are properly aligned with the size of the paper you're using. Misaligned guides can prevent the paper from feeding correctly.
  • Clean Rollers: Dust and debris on the paper rollers can cause feeding problems. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently clean the rollers. Let them dry completely before trying to print again.
  • Reload Paper: Remove the paper from the tray, fan it to separate the sheets, and reload it into the tray. Ensure the paper is not wrinkled or curled.
  • Check Paper Type and Size: Ensure you're using the correct type and size of paper for your printer.
  • Printer Reset: Try turning off the printer, unplugging it for about a minute, and then plugging it back in and turning it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
