Error message of ink supply problem with only one of the cartridges. Would replacing the printhead resolve this issue or could the problem be beyond the printhead. Have juggled and cleaned he printhead. Still has the error message.

Hi @LindaleRich,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP printer is showing an “Ink Supply Problem” for only one cartridge, and cleaning or reseating the printhead hasn’t resolved the error. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this.

a. Verify Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure the cartridge is genuine HP and the correct model for your printer.

Non-HP or refilled cartridges often trigger “Ink Supply” errors.

b. Reinstall the Cartridge

Remove the cartridge showing the error.

Inspect the contacts / chips for dirt or damage.

Reinstall firmly until it clicks into place.

c. Reset the Printer

Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power on.

This can clear temporary cartridge recognition errors.

d. Test with a Different Cartridge

If available, install a new genuine cartridge of the same color.

If the error disappears, the problem was with the original cartridge.

If the error persists, the issue may be hardware-related (printhead or electronics).

I hope this helps.
