Hello, I've recently received a vinyl from target, and it came damaged, so I need to print a return label, I have the HP officejet 6830, and whenever I need to print the paper for the label, it just stick to the "Gathering Printer Information"  and I've tried to crop it smaller and whenever it click "letter" it removes the label and just has small letters with the date of the print, I need help so I can return this vinyl and returned a new one anything helps!

Hi @indeniabledeath,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed explanation—let’s get your return label printed properly using your HP OfficeJet 6830. Here's a step-by-step guide to fix the issue where it gets stuck on “Gathering Printer Information” or prints incorrectly:

1. Restart Everything

  • Turn off your printer and computer.
  • Unplug the printer for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer and try again.

2. Use HP Smart

3. Download the Label as a PDF

  • If you're printing from a website (like Target), download the return label as a PDF instead of printing directly from the browser.
  • Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader or your system’s default PDF viewer.

4. Print Settings for Labels

When printing the PDF:

  • Go to File > Print.
  • In the print dialog:
    • Select your HP OfficeJet 6830.
    • Set Paper Size to Letter (8.5 x 11 in).
    • Set Scale to “Fit to Printable Area” or 100%.
    • Do not crop the label manually; let the printer handle scaling.

5. Clear Print Queue

  • On Windows:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer > See what’s printing > Cancel all documents.
  • On macOS:
    • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and clear the queue.

6. Reinstall the Printer Driver

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
