@sttaxvan, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M183 is printing one page and then says "Cleaning...", this behavior is not normal during regular print jobs and could be caused by one of the following issues:
Cleaning Cycle Misfire (Firmware or Sensor Bug)
This can happen due to:
A firmware glitch
A stuck toner sensor
Incorrect maintenance mode trigger
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
Fuser Cleaning Mode Enabled
Check if "Cleaning Page" or "Fuser Cleaning" mode is accidentally enabled.
On the printer's control panel, go to:
Setup (gear icon) > Service > Cleaning Page
If this mode is enabled or set to run after each job, disable it.
Corrupted Print Job or Driver Issue
Cancel all print jobs.
Restart both the printer and computer.
Reinstall the printer driver:
Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
Remove the printer
Reinstall it using the latest drivers from HP's website.
Toner Cartridge Issue
Remove and re-seat all toner cartridges.
If any cartridge is low-quality or third-party, try replacing it with HP genuine toner (if available) to rule out sensor misreads.
Run a calibration manually from the printer menu:
Setup > Reports > Configuration Report or Setup > Tools > Calibrate
Reset Printer to Factory Defaults
If all else fails, reset the printer settings.
On the printer control panel, go to:
Setup > Service > Restore Defaults
Confirm when prompted.
Reference: Restore factory defaults on your HP printer | HP® Support
⚠️ This will erase network/Wi-Fi settings, so you’ll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
