@mdcubswin, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print. What do you see on the printer screen?

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Hey thank you for the reply.  I have unplugged, waited for 30 minutes, one minute a day.  I have run the soft ware nothing makes the light stop blinking.  I get an error message that says nothing after I run the down load.  On my print queue there is a message that says the printer is in error.  This has been going on for weeks.  I had a perfectly working HP 1018 but when I got my computer last Nov 2020 I could never get the two to connect.

I plugged it in again and the power light just blinks.  I wish some where some how I could get something more than the power light blinking to tell me what is wrong.  It is just a complete waste of time.

I want to purchase a printer from https://printmanreviews.com/hp-officejet-3830-not-printing-color/ site for my office employee. Tell me the hp officejet 3830 printer is useful or not.

@mdcubswin

If the issue persists and you are not able to make a copy, I'm afraid it could be a hardware issue.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
