Hi @beanuk

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The error code OXC18a0001 on your HP Photosmart 8250 indicates an ink system failure. This can happen due to issues with the ink cartridges, printhead, or internal printer components.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve it:

1. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can help clear temporary errors.

2. Clean the Ink Cartridges

  • Remove all the ink cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let the contacts dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

4. Replace the Ink Cartridges

  • If the issue persists, try replacing the ink cartridges with new, genuine HP cartridges. Non-genuine or damaged cartridges can sometimes cause this error.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for and install the latest firmware updates for your printer. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve performance.
