Hi @Garyw541

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must feel when the printer gets stuck in validating mode. Let’s work together step by step to bring it back to normal operation.

Here are some actions you can try:

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn it off, disconnect the power cable from the rear and the wall outlet, wait for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect and power it back on. This clears temporary states.

  • Check the network connection: If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure the signal is stable. Restart your router if needed and reconnect the printer.

  • Update the printer firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause the printer to hang during validation. You can update directly from the printer’s control panel (if accessible) or through the HP App on your Windows PC.

  • Reinstall the HP App: Remove the current installation, download the latest version from the Microsoft Store, and reconnect your printer.

  • Reset the printer: If the above steps don’t help, perform a semi-full reset using the printer’s control panel. This clears stored settings but often resolves validation loops.

Please try these steps one by one. If you’ve already attempted some of them, I appreciate the effort—it helps narrow down the cause. Would you like me to walk you through the firmware update process in detail?
