@Duke78, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP printer being stuck on validating!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer is stuck on "Validating Cartridges," try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the printer's cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges and reinsert them firmly.
  • Make sure they click into place properly.
  • Close the access door and check if the issue is resolved.

3. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • If you're using non-HP or refilled cartridges, the printer may not recognize them properly.
  • Ensure you're using genuine HP 67 or HP 67XL ink cartridges.

4. Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let them dry completely before reinserting.

5. Perform a Printer Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

6. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Printer Updates and install any available updates.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
