Ciao a tutti,

Qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi?

Grazie  e cordiali saluti a tutti. Marco Mattio.  02/11/2025

Hi everyone,

I have an HP Officejet 7110 printer. For a while now, if I select the best print quality (no matter if I use regular or photo paper), it tries to print, feeds the paper a bit, and then stops printing. The yellow paper jam light starts flashing with a flashing yellow exclamation point next to it. Then it displays "Paper jam or tray problem" on my computer screen, and it stops printing. If I press OK, it ejects the sheet without printing anything on it. It then grabs another sheet and prints the first 7 cm at high quality, then stops printing and ejects it, leaving the rest of the sheet unprinted. If I use "normal" or "draft" print quality, it works normally. Could anyone help?

Thank you and best regards, Marco Mattio. 11/02/2025

Hi @marcodioncino,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It appears you are experiencing a common issue where the printer detects a paper jam or tray problem when trying to print in the best quality mode. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer and inspect the paper path, input tray, and output areas for any obstructions or lodged paper.
  • Remove any paper debris from these areas gently to avoid tearing any jammed paper.

Inspect Media and Settings:

  • Ensure the type of paper loaded matches the media type selected in the printer settings.
  • Using incorrect paper can result in feeding issues, especially in high-quality print modes.

Check Paper Tray:

  • Make sure the paper tray is correctly aligned and that the paper stack is neatly arranged without being overfilled.
  • Ensure the paper guides are properly positioned without bending the paper.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer driver and software updates installed. Visit the HP Support website to download any available updates specific to your printer model.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear minor issues.

Print from Different Application or Document:

  • Try printing a different document or from another application to see if the problem persists, as it might be related to specific document settings.

Clean Print Heads (if applicable):

  • Dirty print heads can sometimes cause printing errors. Run a print head cleaning cycle from the printer’s maintenance menu to see if this resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your kind and quick response, but I've already tried what you suggested several times. HP hasn't updated the drivers and software for this printer for several years. I've also cleaned the rubber rollers with a cloth dampened with distilled water and blown everything out with compressed air. But (oh my!), why is it that if I set the print quality to excellent, it first tells me there's a paper jam or out of paper (which isn't true!) by flashing the yellow light in the top right with the yellow exclamation point. Then, if I press the button under that light, the jammed sheet is ejected without printing anything on it, and printing then continues with the next sheet, but only prints a small portion at the top and nothing else? If it were a hardware problem (the test pages with normal print quality work perfectly, (luckily...). If I turned to the community it's because I didn't know what else to do... Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks to anyone who can help me... Regards everyone. Marco Mattio. Turin (Italy). 08-11-2025

But you see, it's the HP programmers who are having big problems... even this help site doesn't work well... if I press reply after entering my reply, the site, instead of telling me that the reply has been sent, repeats a blank page for me to fill out and keeps asking me to reply... (It's not the HP of the past... unfortunately...) 08-11-2025
