Hi @KAF11,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the HP DeskJet 4255e is experiencing issues with printing certain elements, like numbers in spreadsheets and text in Publisher documents. Here's how you can troubleshoot this issue.

Check Printer Settings

  • Open the Print Settings in the application you’re printing from (spreadsheet or Publisher).
  • Make sure you’ve selected the correct paper size and quality settings (e.g., set to "Normal" or "Best" quality).
  • Check if there are any specific color or grayscale options set that may affect the output.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website or use the HP Smart app to check for any driver updates.
  • Outdated drivers can cause printing anomalies, like missing text or images.

Check Ink Levels

  • Low or dried-out ink cartridges can cause incomplete printing. Check the ink levels and replace any low or empty cartridges.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can diagnose and fix common printing issues automatically:
    • HP Print and Scan Doctor

Try a Different Application

  • If the issue is isolated to specific programs like Publisher or Excel, try printing from a different application (e.g., Word or Notepad) to see if the issue persists.

Check the Print Preview

  • Ensure that the Print Preview looks correct before printing. If it's showing issues, the problem may lie in the document format or settings within the program.

Reset the Printer

  • Perform a reset on the printer:
    • Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and power it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
